Biblical Turkey –The Seven Churches of Revelation

Western Turkey is home to one of the most historically significant routes in early Christianity. The Seven Churches of Revelation, mentioned in the New Testament, were early Christian communities that existed during the Roman Empire in the region once known as Asia Minor.

Today, the remains of these ancient cities are located across the Aegean region of Turkey. The route includes Ephesus, Smyrna (modern Izmir), Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

Travelers following this route can walk through the ruins of these early Christian communities while learning about the letters addressed to them in the Book of Revelation. Sites such as the Acropolis of Pergamon, the vast ruins of Ephesus, and the ancient city of Sardis provide remarkable insight into the religious and cultural history of the early Christian world.
