Overview

This is a private combined daily tours of Ephesus and Pamukkale without hotel accommodation.Your pick - up will be either from your hotel or from cruise port or from harbor. Ephesus and Pamukkale are the highlights of the region that you don't want to miss. 

 

On the first day you will be picked up from your hotel (or from an appointed place in Kusadasi or Selcuk) for your daily tour to Ephesus. Your tour will include these sites:  Ephesus famous with its Temple of Artemis and magnificent library. Following by lunch your tour will continue by visiting St. John Church and Virgin Mary’s House. After the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel (or back to your pick - up point)

 

The other day is a full day experience in Pamukkale. After a drive to Pamukkale, you will visit Hierapolis ancient city and have your lunch. You will have a relaxing time in the White Terraces of Cotton Castle. After the tour you will drive back to Kusadasi or your pick - up point.

Highlights

Ephesus

Founded by chance in pre-greek times- this city rose to prominence under Roman Rule - the remains of which are clearly seen today in all their glory and splendor.  Many of the significant statues are located at the small but interesting nearby museum.  One of which is the statues of Artemis - both the venerated object of Ephesian worship and the cause of tumult for St. Paul.  This site is one of the splendors of Turkey.  A must see.  If time permits you will also visit the Terrace Houses at Ephesus.

Ephesus Museum

Next you'll see the Ephesus Museum where many of the most amazing relics are kept.  


St John's Gravesite


The center of pilgrimage for many years- the apostle John was buried here and throughout the early Byzantine era- this site was a draw for Christians.  Close to Ephesus -it now quietly sits on a citadel like hill overlooking the swamp were the infamous Artemis temple once stood - now marked by a single column and the occasional stork.  


Mary's Church

The supposed home where Mary lived in her later years, it is an important Catholic site of visitation located in the quiet cool forest above Ephesus. 

 

Pamukkale 

 

Pamukkale meaning Cotton Castle in Turkish and is located in nearby Denizli. This site is famous for a carbonate mineral left by the flowing of thermal spring water. 

 

Hierapolis

 

Hierapolis ancient city is located near Pamukkale and it was one of the most popular spa centers in the 2nd century BC. Travertines, Necropolis and baths are the highlights. 

 

Itinerary

Day 1 

Your guide will  meet with you in Izmir airport or in your hotel in Izmir area (or from an appointed place in Kusadasi or Selcuk) You will be taken first to Ephesus ancient city and Ephesus Museum. Following your lunch your tour will continue by visiting Virgin Mary’s House and St. John’s Church. After the tour you will be taken back to your hotel or to your pick - up point.

 

Day 2 

 

Today you will be picked up from your hotel an appointed point in Kusadasi or Selcuk. After a drive to Pamukkale. Pamukkale is an unique place with nature and history. You will visit Hierapolis ancient city with its magnificent Necropolis. Following by lunch you will have a relaxing time in the White Terraces of Cotton Castle. After the tour you will drive back to Kusadasi or your pick - up point.
